Hello and welcome to episode 102 of the 'Sorry! You're In My Seat' Podcast. In this weeks episode our heroes discuss Cult Movie (as in, movies about Cults) with special guest Dr Kate Green.

What do people in Cults eat?

 

These are things you probably won't learn in this weeks show. But you will definitely hear our three hosts discussing Apostle, The Wicker Man, Midsommar and The Endless. Also, James and Aaron investigate the Cult Sam has joined (which they were told they weren't allowed to call a cult) and our three heroes invent their own cults to try win over and recruit Dr Green.

 

That's right, in this weeks show our heroes waste 2 hours of a Doctors time asking questions about Cults and if she can stitch a foot onto a mans head.... But what did you expect?

The concept is simple: There are 7 rounds in which our hosts can pitch film tropes and their least favourite film cliches into room 101 to be lost forever. The only thing they have to do, is convince the others players that their idea deserves it more.

#100 Masters Of The Universe

Hello and welcome to the 100th episode of Sorry! You're In My Seat. 

To celebrate this milestone occasion our heroes look back at one the greatest and worst movies of all time. A film disliked by fans and hated by critics, a film that flopped at the box office and sunk a movie studio. It's MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE! Starring Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella. The film we all desperately want to love.... but can't.  

The ultimate Good vs. Evil as He-Man faces off against Skeletor, battling for Castle Greyskull and the power of the universe. Inspired by the hugely popular Mattel toy range, comic book series and animated show, it wasn't until 1987 that He-Man faced his most deadly foe; Hollywood screenwriters.

This cult movie is one of the best 'It's so bad its actually great' films of all time. In only his third movie Dolph Lundgren leads as the pant wearing, sword swinging, muscle man from Eternia, whilst Frank Langella gives a performance of a lifetime as the villain Skeletor. 

So OK, the story line isn't great, the effects don't age well and the issues on set are almost legendary; but you can't help falling for this films charm. 

Join Aaron, Sam and James as they walk through the whole movie and reminisce over the magic fo the 80's. Also towards the end of the show, our heroes review the last 100 episodes and put each other on trail for crimes committed in the podcast.

After which, our heroes pay tribute to the career of film maker Joel Schumacher. From St Elmo's Fire to Falling Down, 8mm to The Number 23, Aaron, Sam, and James go through their favourite Joel Schumacher films and pay tribute to his amazing career in film. Listen in as Aaron praises Falling Down, as James gushes over Flatliners and as Sam has to leave due to a grumpy 2 year old.

#98 How To Survive A Disaster Movie

Hello and welcome to episode 98 of Sorry! You're In My Seat - a weekly podcast which unites three best friends on a quest to find the greatest movies of all time. In this weeks show our heroes take on an epic challenge - How do you survive a Disaster Movie? 

Aaron, Sam and James have done extensive research ... kind of. Between them they've watched Geostorm, 2012, Volcano, Dante's Peak, Knowing and Twister. What have they learnt? They've learnt that Disaster movies are pretty bad! But how do you survive a volcano, a tsunami, earthquakes, Hurricanes and Gerard Butler films? 

Listen this week as our heroes give their top tips and ultimate movie survival advice, for example; Stay away from monuments, don't live near a volcano and listen to the scientists! like seriously. If they say run, you run. If they say wear a mask.... don't be an idiot, wear a mask. 

Ok, disaster movies get a bad rep for being over the top, chaotic and at times laughable - but they are undeniably entertaining. Who doesn't like seeing shit get blown up as the heroes either try to prevent annihilation or run from it.

As we enter week 11 of the UK's Corona virus lock-down, we can't help but notice how the lack of hairdressers is affecting some people. For some, this has been a chance to grow a beard, to go full Gandalf and grow a fierce face fleece. Its been a way to channel one's inner hipster and become a member of ZZ Top. 

For others, quite the opposite. The temptation to save money on shampoo and to embrace a chrome dome has meant it's peak season for cue ball and uncle Fester jokes. 

This week our heroes go head-to-head (or Beard-to-head) in an Olympic showdown picking their top movie beardies and top Hollywood baldies. Which movie characters would you pick for your all star line up?
